■ Huawei launches new folding screen phone Mate Xs
On February 24, Huawei held a new product launch event themed on “5G Full-scenario” and introduced to the public its newly developed folding screen mobile phone Mate Xs. It adopts foldable Fullview screen. When the screen is folded, the main screen is 6.6 inches and the secondary screen is 6.38 inches. When unfolded, the screen is 8 inches. Huawei Mate Xs adopts the CPU of HUAWEI Kirin 990 5G, supports both SA and NSA 5G networks and many other frequency bands around the world. ■Sony launches 3 new Xpiria phones
On February 25, Sony launched three new Xperia mobile phones, which are flagship phone Xperia 1 II, mid-range phone Xperia 10 II and Xperia 10 Pro for professional users.
Xperia 1 II attracts the widest attention, which features Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 865 Mobile Platform and supports Sub-6 5G network and WiFi 6. Besides longer battery life, Samsung also optimized the new product’s charging function. ■OPPO FindX2
FindX2, the latest product of the OPPO Find series, will be launched on March 6. It is said that OPPO Find X2 features Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 865 Mobile Platform and LPDDR5. Its display is a 6.7-inch curved screen featuring 3K-level resolution and 120Hz refresh rate.

■Breaking news about Apple’s iPhone 12 Pro Max
iPhone 12 series will be released in this September. Apple is planning to enhance the pixel of the main rear cameras, while support night mode will be available on all the rear cameras. Xiaomi officially announced the sales of Mi TV5 Pro (75-inch) will kickstart on March 13. The new 75-inch Mi TV5 is still powered with quantum dot technology, supports 108%NTSC WCG and 4K and HDR 10+, and achieves a high screen-to-body ratio to 97% and 10.9mm thickness of metal case. ■TCL’s “Zigzag” tripfold concept phone
The phone unveiled by TCL is only a concept phone without specific plan of release. The first foldable phone is zigzag-shaped inwards and outwards, just like a 6.65-inch phone at a ratio of 20.8:9 with three screens folded and a 10-inch screen when unfolded. The thickness of the phone is increased to as much as that of 2.5 S20 Ultra phones due to tripfold. It can simultaneously run three or two applications, with two on the left for photos and one on the right for lightness and contrast adjustment. Like Galaxy Z Flip, it can stand on a desk with a screen supported and be typed with another screen lying on the desk. ■OPPO’s first smart watch
OPPO recently released its first smart OPPO Watch online. The watch, with a rectangular design, has a 1.91-inch hyperboloid flexible screen. Replacing silica gel, the watch band is made of fluororubber or feathers in different colors for various types. n Logitech launches 3-in-1 wireless charger: simultaneous charging available for three different Apple products
According to a March 12 report from foreign tech media 9to5mac, Logitech has launched a new three-in-one wireless charger, which can charge iPhone, AirPods and Apple Watch at the same time. It supports a maximum of 7.5W wireless charging and includes an internal thermal sensor providing automatic temperature control.
n Apple: fifth beta version of watchOS 6.2 released
On March 12th, Apple seeded the fifth beta of an upcoming watchOS 6.2 update to developers. Once the proper configuration has been installed, the new watchOS beta can be downloaded through the dedicated Apple Watch app on the iPhone. To install the update, the Apple Watch needs to have at least 50 percent battery, it must be put on charge, and it has to be in range of the iPhone. WatchOS 6.2 introduces Apple Watch App Store support for in-app purchases, which will allow developers to create and sell Apple Watch apps that offer in-app purchase options and subscriptions. n Apple’s newest ad for AirPods Pro’s Active Noise Cancellation
According to reports from March 12, Apple has released a new AirPods Pro advert to its official Youtube channel, focusing mainly on the Active Noise Cancellation function and Transparency mode. AirPods Pro are truly wireless earphones, first released by Apple in October 2019. The AirPods Pro comes with several improvements compared with the two previous generations of AirPods, including Active Noise Cancellation, water and sweat proofing and a brand new in-ear design.
Before this, according to foreign media outlet MacRumors.com, DigiTimes revealed in its paid content that Apple would launch a new wireless earphone, which DigiTimes called the “AirPods Pro Lite”. This name is kind of strange, suggesting DigiTimes believed the new product would be a low-level configuration of the AirPods Pro. MacRumors.com thought it would be just a third generation AirPods. DigiTimes did not reveal any more details about the new AirPods, but they speculated that the new Apple AirPods might be put into production at the end of the second season of this year because of the COVID-19 epidemic.
n Meizu 17 expected to be available in April

n New Huawei P40 series to be launched on March 26
According to Huawei’s official release, the new Huawei P40 lineup will be launched online on March 26. The new P40 Pro comes with a rectangular camera module at the rear, which will house five lenses; a 52 MP wide angle main camera, a 40MP ultra-wide angle camera, an 8MP telephoto lens, a PRISM periscope camera setup with up to 10X optical zoom, and a ToF lens. Both phones will be equipped with Kirin 990 chip, external Baron 5000 baseband, and will support SA and NSA networks for dual-mode 5G communication. In addition, the Huawei P40 lineup may also be equipped with 5,000mAh battery and a charging combination of 40W fast cable charging and 27W fast wireless charging and reverse wireless charging.
n New Apple patent: achieving a ‘foldable’ display with no need for hinges
On March 11, Apple obtained a patent called System with Multiple Electronic Devices from United States Patent and Trademark Office. It describes a process of placing two iPhones next to each other can activate a tiled display feature without using any hinge. The new patent suggests Apple may be able to adopt a new method to design a folding iPhone. Apple described how to make equipment involving sensors, and also described how that the electronic devices may ‘use sensor measurements and other information’ to detect when an edge of a first electronic device is adjacent to an edge of a second electronic device. In joint operating mode, images may extend across two devices, the devices’ speakers may be used to play different channels of an audio track, cameras and other sensors may be used in cooperation with each other, and other resources may be shared.
Magnetic components may also hold devices together in a variety of orientations. The “hinge” zone is the bezel used to realize user interface gestures. Besides this, the patent also explores various possible shapes when two screens are combined together.
n New Nokia phone featuring 660 chip to be launched
